Laura Barry C.T.F., C.C.H. holds a B.A. in Psychology from Simmons College and a B.S.N. in Nursing from Boston University. She is a certified transformational breath facilitator trained by the Cosmic Breath Institute by Thomas Goode and Judith Kravitz (now the International Breath Institute). Laura is a certified consulting hypnotist trained by Tom Nicoli at the New England Institute of Hypnosis in Woburn, MA. In December 2011, Laura became certified as an Australian Bush Flower Essence Practitioner (course college Level 1) by Silke Miller (Hong Kong). She is able to see/feel/hear the spiritual essence of animals. Laura offers inspirational writing for your healing, inspiration and upliftment.
For the past 25 years, Laura has been studying and integrating spiritual principles. Her alternative practice is dedicated to empowering, enlightening and awakening the spiritual seeker. STRESS MANAGEMENT TIPS
5 Pointers in Managing Daily Stress:
Keep well hydrated. A happy mind starts with a well hydrated body. Keep a water bottle handy at your desk.
Daily Exercise. Taking a brisk walk. Tai Chi, dancing, Chi Gong, Yoga .....alleviates stress and clears your mind.
Sleep. Getting a full night's sleep without interruptions produces quality rest for your body. Your body heals during sleep. Going to bed early and establishing good sleeping habits is important for alleviating stress.
Reducing Television and Computer Time. The electromagnetic effects from the television and computer creates stress in the body. Monitor the amount of time you spend in front of the computer. Avoid watching television in bed before going to sleep. Some ideas to relax before bedtime: meditation, chi gong, relaxation tape, listening to music.
Self Care. Giving yourself a hug, Hugging someone else, Smiling, Cooking, Hobbies, Taking a bath, Call a supportive friend.....all show you care about and love yourself.
3 Ways to "Stop and Smell the Roses"
(1) Taking a break from the stressful situation can calm your mind - take a 5 minute walk or a bathroom break - close your eyes to recall & visualize an enjoyable vacation using all your senses.
(2) While visualizing, breathe in three slow, deep belly breaths of peace and breathe out any heavy feelings.
(3) Fully revitalized, you can now handle your situation more effectively!
(Remember...when you tend to your emotions you gain insight about your inner self.)

Animal Totems
Animal totems are the essence of an animal (animal spirit) offering us lessons and bringing us power and guidance on our path.
The American Indians respect nature and revere the spirit within creation. They view everything on earth as being connected, alive, and with purpose. Finding harmony and wholeness in the sacredness of creation happens as our totems teach us their medicine (powers) and we incorporate their lessons into our life. The spirit of creation is in all things.
- Totems offer us the opportunity to experience our connectedness to nature.
- They reveal our strengths, help us handle our challenges and provide self growth.
- They empower us with their aptitudes as we receive their gifts. (Our hidden or latent talents)
- They offer us protection to handle our daily stresses.
- Totems are teachers offering great wisdom and power.
- They work with us offering insight into our transitions.
- They help bring balance and wholeness to our lives.
Animal totems each have their own medicine in the form of teachings, powers, gifts and wisdom. Their wisdom is conveyed to us through messages in the form of visions, inner knowing, sightings, and dreams. The messages bring us into alignment with our soul talents, values and truths. Discovering our inner landscape leads us to self integration while lessening the hold of the ego.

BE PEACE
When I see a child playing, I see they are immersed in the present moment. They are fixated on what is right in front of them, not just what happened or what is going to happen next. They are connected to their inner presence and are simply at peace. When we are immersed in our problems we immediately begin to dig around in the past and project ourselves into the future looking for answers to our questions. By saying to oneself, "In my infinite wisdom please allow me to see what I need to know in this moment" you slowly bring yourself out of the past or future into present time to see the answers which are simply waiting to be seen by you. Acknowledge your infinite wisdom to be the peace which resides in you and you will see solutions and much more!
THE STORIES WE BELIEVE
We tell ourselves stories about who we are, who the other person is and the life we are living. We believe we are our stories. These stories live in our experiences, our minds, and in our heart. They become part of our experience when we put our belief into them. Our story lines can change when we focus our awareness on wanting something different for ourselves. When we "buy" into our story (hook, line and sinker) we often get carried away with our experiences resulting in our feeling separated from our self and from our connection to our higher source (G-d, Spirit). Rather than connecting to our stories, we may want to connect with our inner truth of who we are (a child of G-d, Spirit). Aligning to our divinity reconnects us back to our self so we truly experience our essence and truth of who we are. Instead of placing our beliefs onto our stories, let's place our belief in something greater - our Spirit.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH & YOUR HIGHER SELF
The lower self is your ego mind/personality which helps you function in the everyday world. Your higher self is intuitive in nature. It functions as your inner voice of wisdom waking you up to your spiritual nature. As you wake up within your present "reality" to realize deeper truths, you will be led to an expanded consciousness beyond the mundane to the spiritual. Contemplating spiritual teachings and principles, being engaged in spiritual growth, reading spiritual texts all work to teach the lower self about its divine nature. It is the desire of the ego to grow beyond its limited nature and become humble in the process as it seeks its divinity.
As you grow spiritually, you develop a higher perspective along with an expanded reality. Perceiving your life from a "big picture" wide angled perspective helps you realize your divine nature and attune to your authenticity. Dispassion, detachment, and discernment are gained as you grow spiritually. From this new stance, you are empowered to handle life challenges with strength, resourcefulness and awareness.
Understanding how your higher self communicates to you...through hunches, feelings, and the "still quiet voice" facilitates the integration of your ego and your higher self. The inherent wisdom of your higher self is felt and seen on many levels. Expanding your view of your inner world through reading metaphysical/spiritual books, taking a yoga class, and learning to meditate can improve your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and wellbeing.
